Double Harness Scurry is fast…furious…fun… one of the most exciting, action-packed equestrian sports.

Pairs of ponies pull lightweight racing carriages at the gallop, weaving through cones at speed with drivers aiming to notch up the fastest time, all while their grooms lean out keeping the carriages balanced.

The rules are simple, if a ball is knocked down there is a four second penalty.  This is added to the time taken to complete the course – the fastest time wins.

There are two height divisions – 122 cms & under, and larger ponies not exceeding 148 cms.  Very different to when scurry first started over 40 years ago when any height of horse or pony with traditional vehicles competed, but always against the clock.

Here at Bucks County Show the leading drivers in each division will go forward to the final to find the Scurry Champion of the Show.

Each year scurry competitions feature at shows around the country culminating in the crowning of the Osborne Refrigerators Scurry Driver of the Year at the Horse of the Year Show. 

And, unlike many horse sports, the crowd are positively encouraged to cheer, shout, whoop, holler and stamp their feet.  The more noise you make, the faster these mini thoroughbreds will go!
