The Band of the Irish Guards

The Band of the Irish Guards

We are delighted to welcome The Band of the Irish Guards to this year’s Bucks County Show.

You will no doubt have seen them leading The Queen’s Birthday Parade (Trooping the Colour) earlier this year as part of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend.

The Band of the Irish Guards was formed in 1900 and quickly gained a reputation for excellence. At the outbreak of the First World War, the Band was kept very busy maintaining morale at home and encouraging recruitment. In May 1917 the band was part of the Massed Bands that visited Paris – the first time all five Guards bands appeared on parade together. In more recent times, three members of the band served in the first Gulf War of 1990/91, and in June 1999 the band deployed to Kosovo as part of a NATO peacekeeping force. The band had toured extensively over the years, visiting North America, Australia, Cyprus and Canada to name a few.

The band will be performing twice during the day on the main Show Ring.
